MISSION AND SCOPE

The Hop Growers of New York, INC. (HGoNY) is a 501c6 Non-Profit Organization.

Our Mission is to be a structured resource for the research, education, best practices, and strength building initiatives for the Hop Growers of New York State.

VALUE PROPOSITION:

As a centralized and structured organization, HGoNY implements programs that proactively combat the challenges of commercially scalable hop growing in New York State.

CORNELL HOP BREEDING PROGRAM PARTNERSHIP INITIATIVE:

The cornerstone of HGoNY. A breeding program that will ultimately end up in a shared IP model to breed a NY disease resistant aromatic hop, and produce revenue through licensing to NY growers and the wider US grower community.

GOVERNMENT FUNDING INITIATIVES:

Current source of funding and largest source of funding to date. The majority of the funding is secured to the Cornell Breeding Program and minor amount is dedicated to The HGoNY marketing and advertising fund.

THE THREE PILLAR INITIATIVES OF MEMBERSHIP STRUCTURE and INVOLVEMENT

NY GROWER COMMUNITY INITIATIVE: The main purpose of the HGoNY grower to grower initiative is to unite all New York hop growers to participate in the research, education, best practices, and strength building initiatives that will directly aide in achieving the short and long term goals of HGoNY. The key significance of which is being a beneficial organization that supports the unique strengths and challenges of the past, present and future that New York Hop Growers face.

GROWER TO BREWER INITIATIVE: The main purpose of the HGoNY grower to brewer initiative is to engage key craft brewers inside and outside of New York to experiment with New York grown hops, collaborate with New York Hop Growers, and partner with HGoNY with brewing research, education, best practices and strength building initiatives.

GROWER TO MERCHANT INITIATIVE: The main purpose of the HGoNY grower to merchant initiative is to engage key hop merchants around the world to experiment with New York grown hops, collaborate with New York Hop Growers, and partner with HGoNY with brewing research, education, best practices and strength building initiatives.
